The Exotics Car Show at Hiller Aviation Museum brought modern performance cars together with a setting shaped by aviation history. I spent the afternoon exploring the people, machines, details and the visual connection between automotive and aviation design.
Shape, proportion, materials and mechanical purpose give each machine its own identity—details that become even more interesting in a setting dedicated to another form of transportation.
What makes Hiller such an unusual setting for an automotive gathering is what surrounds the cars. Aircraft and automobiles represent different eras, purposes and engineering challenges, yet both have inspired generations through performance, technology and design.
Beyond the show, Hiller's collection offered another visual language—exposed structures, mechanical forms, vintage graphics and aircraft spanning generations of aviation.
Whether engineered to create downforce or lift, these machines share an ability to turn function into something that has revolutionized human transportation and mobility.
